I am constantly amazed by how many abandoned houses there are in Ireland.
I’m not talking about those projects that got interrupted by the crash ten or so years ago. I’m talking about old houses that have been left empty and are still standing decades later.
What I can’t understand is how the ownership has not been passed onto someone, and if it has, why the new owner hasn’t done anything about it. Either move into it, sell it or tear it down. There are nowhere near as many deserted houses in Finland.
Don’t get me wrong - these abandoned previous homes endlessly pique my curiosity, and if I get half a chance, I’ll be in there exploring them. I want to know who lived there and what happened to them. Sometimes, there is still furniture inside. It makes you wonder, doesn’t it?
