There are many cute railway stations in Ireland. Most of them are old and some of them are abandoned.
This photo is of a station I use regularly, but there are many smaller ones near my house that are no longer in use and are falling apart. There used to be a track between Sligo and Galway, but that’s been closed for decades . The train tracks are still there, slowly falling into ruin along with the old stops. There are plans to convert parts of this to a greenway.
Happily, Collooney station is still in operation and makes my life much easier whenever I want to travel somewhere. It’s quite picturesque too - a real, working rural station.
