Old dogs are the best.
I will never understand people who get rid off a dog - or another animal - simply because it grew old. As long as the animal is healthy and not suffering, let them live out their days in peace with those they love. An old dog’s affection and loyalty are like no other.
My Benny is 15 now and still going strong. He still does a little bit of agility, with jumps on the ground and very little climbing involved. Every now and then he can’t help himself though and he attempts one of the bigger pieces of equipment like the a-frame in this photo. It’s the only piece I don’t want him on at his age because it takes a lot of strength and momentum, and it’s not fair on his old body.
Apart from that, I would rather keep him active as long he’s not in any pain and still enjoys it. I don’t want anybody telling me I have to stop agility because of my age when I reach 80!
