Midsummer. It’s that magical time of year when the day is at its longest and the nights are not dark. This would be the case in Finland, but unfortunately, I’m not there.

I haven’t been home for Midsummer in over ten years, and it’s breaking my heart. I miss those nightless nights so much, the freshness of the air, the barbeques, the relaxation. In my previous job, taking time off at the end of June was a no-go, and in my current job, COVID has destroyed those plans. I am so homesick at the moment; I can’t remember the last time I wanted to go home so badly.

I hope I get my vaccinations soon - I’m still waiting for my first one - so that I can travel again.

Finnish summer - no, not Midsummer.
